Hi
My understanding is that CAWR 2002 was revoked and replaced by the CAR 2006.
CAR 2006 also replaced the Asbestos (Lic) Regulations 1983 as amended in 98, and also The Asbestos (Prohibitions) Regs 1992 as amended.
Asbestos: The licensed contractors guide, (first published in 2006) makes no reference to CAR 2006, but does state it covers the requirements of the Licensing Regs 1983.
Why does the 2006 Lic Guide not cover (or at least refer to) the requirements of CAR 2006?

And does thsi mean that info in the Lic guide contradicts what is in the CAR 2006.
For example the single exposure limit for all asbestos over a 4 hr control limit is given as 0.1(f/ml) in CAR but 0.3 for chrysotile and 0.2 for all other types in the guide.
Am I missing something? Do I have an out of date guide? Why would to documents contradict each other?
Pete (confused)

No, you're right they simply haven't updated the guidance yet. Give them a chance it's only been 3 years.....

HSG 247 Asbestos - The Licensed Contractors Guide is due to be replaced very soon, sept / oct I am lead to believe.
This will probably be free to download as part of HSE commitment to provide these on their website in the coming months.(Sept / Oct)
Why would they spend vast amounts of spondoolicks getting a load printed and then give them away free as a download?
