CDM - Cooperation/ Segregation of activities

Good Afternoon,
We are shortly to begin a major CDM project on an existing site. The work will involve the establishment of a CDM area where, unfortunately, live pipelines and some services will be inside the 'nominated' CDM area.
Our view is that the principal contractor will be in charge of the CDM area as usual (i.e. issue of permits, safe systems of work etc within the fence, and we will agree in advance that the 'live areas' are cordoned off and our guys will obtain permission and sign in at the entrance to CDM area and obtain permits if work is necessary.
Thoughts?

Yes, as long as the Permit regime is adapted to account for the "CDM" people in those instances and mutual safety is assured.
