Posted By Raymond Rapp Golam Can't really answer your question as more information would be needed regarding the type of industry, environment, country and so on. Ray

Posted By Raymond Rapp Your original post indicates that you will be recruiting graduates and therefore their theory of h&s should be good. You may wish to consider practical applications in any training course. Site set up to include welfare facilities, site boundaries, segregation of contractors, safe storage of materials eg LPG bottles. Site inspections, completing inspection reports, identifying poor and good working practices. Documentation in the form of method statements and associated risk assessments, lift plans, health and safety plan, traffic management plan, site waste plan, toolbox talks, safety alerts, incident and near miss reports. Hopefully the above will assist.

Posted By Nicholas Sutcliffe Now now TO, that sounds like a personal slight, not well received on this site. Golam, I, and i'm sure many others, would be interested in looking at what you have put together when it is complete, any chance you can keep us informaed as to progress, external links, etc?

Posted By Peter F. It appears obvious that golam's 1st lanuage is not English. This is an international site.

Posted By Mick154 T.O. Where are you coming from, you seam the type of person i have fought against all my working career May i respectfully ask you to back off, I am 57 and did not learn to read and write until i was 42, last year i was assessed at being 78% dyslexic without the aid of the computer I cannot do my work, even though it will only spell check words that are incorrectly spelled and will not check the wrong word spelled correctly, i have always found that if you use easy words and describe to the best of your ability then message gets across to those that matter. I have worked very hard, put in more hours than most to qualify and hold a senior role in my company being able to spell and understand grammar does not make a person. So when you come across as someone that makes a point of pointing out spelling and grammar mistakes. As Nicholas says “look back at yourself”, so back off

Posted By Bob Y Indeed; I would suspect that English is not Golams first language so lets cut him a bit of slack. I can order two beers in any number of languages (this usually amounts to me holding 2 fingers up and saying 'beer')but that is as far as it goes.

Posted By peter gotch 1 Ray. Not sure where Golam is or what degree curricula are there, but the assumption that H&S content of UK degree courses is VERY dangerous! Lack of adequate attention to workplace health and safety in UK degree courses specifically commented on at teh Revitalising Construction conference summoned by John Prescott in 2001 and I am not convinced that life has got much better. Some higher ed institutions aim to train students for the big, bad real world, others to be academia. In my experience, the curricula of the latter fail to include adequate coverage of site H&S issues (albeit my research is now rather dated - a survey of some of our graduates which showed up a massive gulf in practical H&S content - won't name and shame, but readers can guess the sorts of institutions that I didn't consider to have done the business - but who were amongst the key targets for our graduate recruitment) Regards, Peter

Posted By Raymond Rapp Hi Peter Point taken. I did suspect is was non-UK graduates and there was an assumption on my part that graduates would be those doing h&s degrees, but perhaps not. That said, my advice was of a general nature because there are so many topics which can be covered. I also agree that many construction orientated degree courses are woefully inadequate when it comes to health, safety and welfare issues. CDM is often included in the course but that's about all. Perhaps there is an opportunity abroad for us h&s construction people? Ray

Posted By naveen duggal Hi, Thanks to all for their views, opnions, comments. It is interesting & appreciated in Golam's approach to bring about some Safety awareness amongst people who have freshly graduated or finished schooling, who go abroad especially to Middle East, Gulf, Africa,or Far East or any western countries to work. HSE has clearly defined 4C of good safety management i.e. Competence, CONTROLS, Communication , Cooperation PLUS Continual Improvement,Commitment "SAFETY IS EVERYONE's RESPONSIBILITY & ACCOUNTABILITY" So also topics like Risk assessment,Fire fighting, First Aider,Report writing should be added, Best wishes, Naveen

Posted By golam Hi all Thanks for all comments and suggestion. I don’t bother what has been commented with negative sense. I will take all those suggestion that helps me. Let me add some more about my ambition. Friends millions of people are jobless in my country millions of young students are involving in crime and political misused due to lack of job opportunity. I am trying to help some of them to be trained in industrial H&S so they may have job opportunity and divert their life style. It’s not a business I am expending half of my yearly income and sacrificing 15 days from 30 days of my annual vacation.
