Posted By Tim Hello all, I am looking for some advice, we have someone at work who has been involved in developing a device which they wish to test. This is a prototype as such. My question is will a risk assessment considering PUWER be enough for the test to stanrt or at what point does the essentials of CE marking, supply of machinery kick in. Thanks all

Posted By Ron Hunter Not yet, I suggest. You'd want a final design before you go to to the expense of any formal testing (which might involve significant £££ if you're talking EMC, low voltage directive etc)towards declaration of conformity. Having to resubmit due to significant modification could be costly. From a marketing and business perspective though, you'd want to be considering the costs and lead -times associated with conformance testing and obtaining necessary certification towards CE declaration. Some good stuff on this at the BERR website.
