HI,
If we are erecting free standing units to a fully working store (sectioned off), our contact is the store manager, Should there be an H & S induction carried out for our fitters? If so, who does it? - Not used to producing documentation in this situation.
Advice appreciated.

ok where to start.
You are creating a mini site if you like within the store but practicalities must be present. The induction programme to put in place would include both the hazards to your staff working in this area as well as the hazards that your staff can create with regard to people within the store.
It may be better to have an induction on the first day and then tool box talks at the start of every other day unless things change radically (I am assuming here that you use the same staff from start to end of project).
Be careful here not to overegg the importance of an induction every morning - there may be no need but you still need to do appropriate risk and task assessments prior to deciding which way to go.
Good luck

Can't give you a definitive answer but I will answer it like this. Any potential hazards arising from the work should be identified by the Client prior to the work starting. If possible, the work site should be demarcated by the Contractor. As a rule of thumb, where a worksite is cordoned off, the onus is on the Contractor to supervise and protect their staff, otherwise the onus falls to the Client to protect contractors.
Hope this is of assistance.

You need to know the site and your clients emergency procedures.
You need to be told where you can go and where you cant.
You need to be told how the clients activities can affect you - noise, dust, chemicals, vehicles etc.
So yes - in my eyes - an induction would be required.
