Posted By Scott Meechan Would an individual be required to having working at heights training if they are in a cherry picker, also would they have to be harnessed?

Posted By Dave Merchant If you're talking about onshore work in the UK then yes and yes. No absolute requirement as to which type of training, but most people use IPAF. The harness must be used in restraint, not fall arrest. Offshore the training is still required, and 90% of the time so is a harness - but there can be situations where toppling of the boom could drop it into the water, and in those cases you don't want the occupant connected to the basket.

Posted By philip john Harnesses on cherry pickers are required as people have been known to be throw out because of the jerking motion of the machine thus mitigating the effects of such an occurrence! Regards Phil
