Posted By Uday As we need to have the safe driven KM records at the end of every month for the purpose of submitting monthly HSE statistics,I would like to know under whose responsibility the collecting of KM traveled / driven issue lies and why,I was given to understand that the responsibility of collecting the data from more than 400 plus vehicle drivers small medium and large lies with the HSE advisor which I do not agree with. Could anyone guide me on this issue please. Thanks in advance - US

Posted By Ron Hunter Seems an awful lot of work every month for whoever is lumbered with it, and all just to feed the statistics monster? A bit of a constructive challenge might be due. Accidents arising from driving activities, investigation, outcomes etc. are a proper area for focus, Km travelled pcm or pa are surely of a lesser relevance. That said, the people who manage and service your vehicle fleet (and the people who pay out expenses for use of personal vehicles) are the people who should be keeping tabs on vehicle mileages, not the HSE Adviser - seems a terrible duplication & wasted effort!

Posted By Andrew Lochlyn Ure Uday Sounds to me as if you're in the Middle East somewhere, working possibly for contractor or an oil major who requires km driven to be reported along with the monthly stats in order to calculate the journey managament rate. There is nothing prescribed as to actually who is responsible for it, but I would suggest the actual collection of the data is a logistics function, rather than an HSE one. Push it over to the Logistics Manager or Fleet Co-ordinator and see what their response is.
