Posted By gvellam Hi In the middle of unit D and just completing the recommendations. I have been trying to find some system that is in practice of easily identifying weights on products so that we conform with the recommended guidelines. Argos mark there items with 2 persons if it warrants it. Thanks Gill

Posted By Dave Merchant Realistically you have to show the numeric weight, not just a pictogram. A box which requires two people to lift it from waist level can be a 4-person lift from the floor! Phrases like "heavy" or "lift with care" have no legal meaning and don't satisfy the requirement to notify users of the weight of the object. Finally, think of the LOLER issue of bulk handling. Delivering one bag of gravel may be a MH question, but 30 on a pallet is a HIAB job, and the weight stamped on each bag is what the driver will use to work out if it's within the boom capacity. You can't add 29 "heavy"s and a "very heavy"!
