Posted By andrew morris Hi all, I need a little help. I have been asked if there are any weight "limits" in Germany similar to those suggested as guidance in this country. I have had a quick google but not found anything (in English!) Does anyone know?

Posted By Manny If you are talking about weight limits for manual handling then the Industrial Insurance Carriers produce their own guidlines i.e. http://www.bgete.de/htdo...irma53/t_41_a04-2009.pdf Although they are trying to get away from stipulating weight limits and rather risk assessing the task in hand using a suitable method. The Federal Institute for Occupational Health have produced a Risk Assessment Guide for Manual Handling: http://www.baua.de/nn_12...-Heben-Halten-Tragen.pdf If you Google "Heben und Tragen" you will find everything that you need to know but try to keep to the websites belonging to the "Berufsgenossenschaft" Manny

Posted By Stefan Daunt I think it may be weight limits on LGV's he is refering to. In Europe it is 40 tonnes, probably the reason european vehicles run on 5 axles. As we can go upto 44 Tonnes on 6 axles.

Posted By andrew morris Sorry - Very poorly worded question. I was refering to manual handling. Thanks both for the responses.

Posted By Manny Page 33 of BGI 523 provides a table which gives recommended weight limits which shouldn't be exceeded (http://www.bg-metall.de/fileadmin/downloads/Gesundheitsschutz/BGI523.pdf) Manny
