Fire detection and automatic alarming in toilets

Good morning all.
I have received a question regarding the requirement of detection and automatic alarming for public toilets in an airport not under UK or EU regs.
I remember carrying out inspections in the UK and if non was shown on the old fire certificate then it was not required. However more recently in Fire Risk Assessment i notice detection in newer buildings - is this now normal best practice? The toilets are havens for smokers so my old HIOR, Heat, Infrared,Optical,Radiation list of types would suggest I or R?
The system will be refurbished by a Turkish company (probably to their regional specification). The advice I will receive and give to the engineer will be good will only.
Please advise.
Thanks in anticipation.

Fit the toilets with fire doors plus detection of the optical type would be my thoughts!!

And were in your fire risk assessment would it say toilets are "high" risk and need fire doors? The regulations do not require fire detection or fire doors on toilets. However you could if employing a level 1 system of detection include toilets, but it is not a requirement.
Cheers.

Electric hand driers
shaver sockets
waste paper - illicit smoking all spring to mind

Thank you for reminding me of the electrics within the toilets, the fact the room is a prefab room within a room and within a non-compartmentised building. The previous comment reminds me of the reason I left the service. People now discuss regs and have never put out a fire or learned the causes at the hot end.
Old red line drawings were all over the fire plans to maximum protection in my day in Belfast. I'm in Baghdad now, prepare for the worst and welcome less. I will advise on automatic detection and alarming. Let them penny pinch and reduce on the advise if they wish.
