Posted By Richard Beevers After many (many, many, many) late nights, and reviweing QRAs, and double checking inventories, and finding out more about my plant than I ever thought was possible, I'm finally ready to submit my company's 1st COMAH Report. I'm just a bit hesitant about submitting it. Will taking it to the HSE office look too keen? Shall I just send it recorded post? Should I put it in a company binder? I just want to make the right impression.... Any advice???

Posted By Kate Gibb Richard, Don't worry too much about the presentation - it's the content the inspectors will be looking at! However, make sure that each section is easy to find (e.g. using numbered tabs/dividers). Having the company logo/photo of site on front, and labelling clearly the company name and site location makes life a lot easier for the inspectors too. I would hand deliver it to the office - as this ensures that it gets there promptly. Remember these are sensitive documents, so if you do post it, make sure you send it securely packaged with a reputable courier. Good luck with the assessment! Kate

Posted By garyh Talk to the HSE (remembering EA is joint competent authority). If you have done this on your own, qwithout consultant advice and support.....wow! Be prepared for the HSE / EA totell you that the report os not acceptable of complete......then a list of shortcomings. HSE uses the SRAM method http://www.hse.gov.uk/comah/sram/index.htm to assess. You could try this beforwe sunbmission. If not, just submit within the deadline and wait for the response.
