We are a large manufacturing company and we are planning a H & S week in November to raise H & S awareness, highlight progress, help promote behavioural change etc and expect to cover amongst others the following areas in the week;
Safety Idea Competition Token safety related prizes) , Safety Quiz, Safety Myths, Safety posters (children of employees) , Safety CD played in Canteen showing visual near misses etc, Safety message on PC on start up, Safety products on sale, Notice boards including (Safety Committee composition, and members; Safety Concern forms (how they work) ; Driver safety; etc)
We have not tried this before so I am interested in others views and experiences re other suggestions or potential pitfalls.

My experience of 'safety weeks' & 'safety days' is that they are often a top down initiative- nothing wrong in that,as long as your expectations are clear, but you may find real worker engagment pretty sparse/ begrudging
Why not try engaging the workforce and their reps before the event
For some great ideas on participation etc.... try:

Good luck

Thanks Gus, will try and avoid it becoming a top down initiative, loses its objective that way although with time availability in organising the various aspects I can see how it could lean that way. Will keep this in mind.
