Posted By Caitlin O'Connell Hi Everyone, I'm looking to set up a database, that could be web-based, to record datasheets of substances that are being purchased within my organisation. Does anyone know of a good company that could provide this? Thanks!

Posted By Ron Hunter Your suppliers? Have you asked them, or shopped around to see who can?

Posted By Coshh Assessor I simply use an ordinary spreadsheet file with hyperlinks to electronic (scanned if necessary) versions of the datasheets.

Posted By Dominic Howkins Hi Caitlin, It really depends on what type of data you want to hold. Do you need to hold cost, invoiving, payment infomation? or just a list of what substances you have, how much you've got and where it is? I have implemented many web based databases before for a number of clients., Please feel free to contact me i would be happy to show you an example Rgds, Dominic

Posted By Ron Hunter My point being that if you can exert "supply chain pressure" on the suppliers to keep MSDS available via their own web-pages, then you don't have the complexity of trying to keep pace with updates.

Posted By Caitlin O'Connell Many thanks for getting back to me. I'm looking to set up a database to keep track of what we have on site, where and how much of it. I'm hoping for something that could be web based to make it easy for numerous people across the site to update the records. Dominic - would it be possible to email me an example?

Posted By Coshh Assessor I don't follow this, Ron. If you don't maintain a collection of msds in some way, how will you get one quickly in a first aid emergency (when the first aider may not even know who the supplier is), how will you know when a relevant msds has been updated resulting in the need for a COSHH review, and how will you have access to msds from small suppliers who may not even have a website?

Posted By Dominic Howkins Hi Caitlin, I have sent you an email directly. Sending you an example is tricky as clients processes and requiremnets are often different and we configure our solutions to meet those needs. Spk soon, Rgds, Dominic
