Posted By nigelhammond I am going to teach our area managers the art of fault tree analysis when doing incident investigations. I am hoping there is a useful bit of software for this. I find the family tree diagrams on powerpoint rather limited. The smartart feature in Word 2007 is pretty good for this but our IT department does not support the use of office 2007 prefering to remain with Office 2003. I have used Mind Manager, the mind map software for fault tree analysis - althouh it is not really designed for this. just wondering if anyone has used anything that is easy to use and does not involve much of a learning curve (other than paper and pen!)

Posted By Phizzle Microsoft Visio is the baby. It's quite cheap, easy to use, and has other applications besides fault trees such as event tress, organnogrammes, maps, you can even use it as a (very) basic CAD tool. ian

Posted By Adrian.Durand Just to add, If the company doesn't have (or won't provide) a copy of Visio, then Open Office Draw is fairly similar, and is also compatible with MS Office. The other major advantage of this is that it is free. Regards Adrian
