Posted By Jonathan Compton Hi All, I am preparing to interview candidates for the above post. I would like to get the candidates to read some kind of inspection report and produce a managers report outlining main hazards and make recommendations. Does anybody have a template of information that I can use to give to the candidates? Many thanks, Jon

Posted By Bob Youel J At what level will the interview be at; chartered or trainee etc as more info is needed before proper support can be given I would advise getting competent support for the interview as; if I am reading this correctly; you are not an expert yourself hence your Q? and if you want this person to be your MHSW person reading etc a check list would not give you what you need

Posted By FAH Hi Jonathon I think we know each other. Unless you already have an internal matter that has already been satisfactorily resolved that you could use; maybe you would like to browse the current batch of Case Law for a suitable scenario. This would provide several strands that you would wish to check/confirm that your candidates are up to speed on. 1 - awareness of cuurent cases; 2 - awareness of the IOSH discussion forum; 3 - ability to take information & apply their knowledge; and so on. Posted By D H Not sure what you do, but why let them look at what you do and let them come up with a reasoned response to a certain aspect of the business? Maybe more realistic and better measured? Dave

Posted By Kieran J Duignan Jonathan To respond to your request as well as possible, I wonder what specific skills you intend to assess.

Posted By Jonathan Compton Thanks everybody for your responses so far. Just to answer a couple of questions; I am the H&S Manager at my organisation and have recently gained PGDip out of Loughborough. The post I'm recruiting to is a junior position and I require only a basic grasp of H&S (the successful candidate will be sent on NEBOSH Gen Cert). What I'm looking for from the report writing part of the interview is the ability to pick up key information from inspections/incident reports/local authority letters or vistis etc, and produce a report on the main points and recommendations for remedial action. Although I could surely produce the material I am a bit pushed fo time and would like an 'easy' solution. Thanks again, Jon
