Posted By Ben Hughes Hi, We are soon going to be transferring persons via helicopter to offshore turbines and are therefore looking at approved transportation/aviation immersion suits. There is a very real possibility that there will be times when technicians will have to be transfered offshore by helicopter and back by boat, or vise versa. We dont want two types of immersion suit - SOLAS approved and Aviation approved, this will cause a confusion in an emergency, theres obvious a manual handling issue, cost etc etc... for sites where this is a possibility do you think it is acceptable to have helicopter approved immersion suits only? In our point of view, an immersion suit is an immersion suit performing the same job - reduce hypothermia, cold shock and improve survival chances. Would anybody have experience of this? Best Regards, Ben

Posted By A Campbell Hi Ben, From past experience working offshore previously I have on many occasion transferred 1 way by helicopter and returned via boat and have used the same survival suit (multifab etc) both ways. The only difference was the different live vests used.
