The company I work for has a requirement for mandatory safety footwear, and this has always been provided on a basic level. Some employees have expressed a wish to have a better quality (or more stylish!) product for which they are prepared to pay an additional cost. Has anyone any experience on the average cost of a safety boot of a reasonable qualitity which could be used as a starting point? I was thinking around the £30 mark? John

Depending on the nature of the work and the type of footwear required the price can vary. For steel toe cap and steel midsole i would say the £20 - £30 mark would be the way to go.

Why not read/ look at the Arco catalogue/web site. That will give you a fair range of shoes/boots and what might be a fair price.

its a well known way of working but take note if the PPE RA is not suitable etc and adequate PPE is not procured in the first place you will be at risk
people buying their own PPE should be buying for style purposes only not because the PPE supplied doen not fit/work properly etc
