I have just been informed that as from 2010 only certified scaffolders will be permitted to erect, modify and dismantle the following types of scaffold, Layer scaffold, Haki and cuplok scaffold. What I mean is that you would requie a certificate in each one of these regardless of any scaffold card which you may hold. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

As of the END of 2010, the NASC will be looking for its members using system scaffold to have carried out systems training at a recognised centre, and have the relevant endorsement (Haki, Cuplok, Layher, etc.) on the scaffolders CISRS card.
However, the only legal requirement will continue to be as at present, for the scaffolders to be competent and trained in the equipment they are using. It will be up to the client whether they demand CISRS system scaffold training, or are happy with other evidence, eg. in-house or non-CISRS trainers certificates.

this will just make our lives more difficult, CSCS are not a legal requirement, but try to work on a site where the client wants all to have them
(insurance companies lower premiums if operatives have them)
more legislation = easier to pin a breach of that legislation on a company = more training = extra costs to operatives and industry = more VAT to the government.
I can see PC's asking for them as a matter of course the same as they do now with cscs, which are now being forged by the very persons the UK is bending over backwards to help and making us all spend a fortune to prevent injury to when working on a UK site
