Please help.
I am advising a company that drives fence posts into residential gardens. They have on occasions hit underground services. On 1 occasion an electric cable leading to a street lamp. The MET post they are currently using is around 24" long.
I am sure I have seen a product on the market that allows users to locate underground services. Does anyone know where to buy such a product. If so, it it easy to use, or does it require specialist training.
Thanks if you can help

Yes they do need training to get decent results. This kit also needs servicing regularly to work efficiently and correctly.
They have been lucky that the HSE have not picked up the strike of the Utility cable as these are reported by the Utility provider to the HSE.

As Robert states, they will need proper training to cover this. If they are having the need to do with on a regular basis, there are companies out there who do a train the trainer course in Cable Avoidance Tools. If you need details drop me an email as we use a company (in Cheshire) for this training occasionally. That way you could have someone at a supervisory or managerial level who would be allowed to train any new staff in use of the equipment.
And yes they need to be recalibrated as per manufacturers guidelines.
