Generally for buildings built pre 2000 it is assumed that Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) are present unless proven otherwise. Depending on the type of building, ACMs could be anywhere in the building, such as, ceiling and wall voids, behind radiators, floor tiles, switch rooms, windows, lagging of pipes and asbestos corrugated cement roofing sheets. More specifically if you look in MDHS 100 you will find a very useful exploded diagram of a building with typical potential ACMs labelled.
