afternoon all,
I am off to Germany on 26.10.2009 to perform an ESH audit (as part of an audit team) of one of our manufacturing sites, approx 350 people.
Anyone got any info/advice on legal framework in Germany?!?!? what to expect...?!?

cheers,
John

In my experience, an auditor would be provided with an information pack or a "local" consultant would form a part of the team

John,

I'm a German Safety Adviser who recently assisted auditors when they came over from the States to audit one of their German companies. The Americans had, on previous audits, problems with trying to understand the local legislation and the German company literally got away with murder.

It would be impossible to read up on German legislation in the couple of weeks you have left (even if you can read German). The best you can do is hope that they provide a consultant to assist.

If you Google "Arbeitsschutz" you will come across many sites which provide free information (make sure that the site ends in .de).

All the best on the audit

The only piece of German law that I am familiar with is the Rheinheits-gebot of 1516. Lots and lots of practical research required on that one.

Of course, there are audit protocols and a German Audito, I was, as my post stated, after an insight from anyone with any relevant experience on the Germany Legal structure.
Thanks for responses

John,

Try the following site: http://www.baua.de/de/In..._20in_20Deutschland.html

Unfortunately most of the site is in German but some of it has been translated. You could also try "www.dguv.de

Regards

Manny
