Posted By Luke. In a basic site office (converted small container)with a desk, a laptop, hot drink making facilities, microwave etc.. what else could potential sources of ignition be..
So far i have:
-Naked flames (smoking materials blowing in) -Internal sparking - from faulty electrical equipment, lighting etc. -Hot surfaces - from portable electric heaters
as far as ignition sources go.. are there anymore?

Posted By J Knight OK, you might think it's a trivial one, but sunlight shining through refractive objects can cause ignition. Much more likely in retail environments (we've had a smoking shop-display from this cause at least once) but possible even with silly things like milk bottles,

Posted By steve e ashton Lightning...
Radiant heat from the adjacent buildings when they burn down if there isn't sufficient clearance.
Ditto from the external poorly sited LPG gas store when it goes up...
Arcing from cables subject to rodent attack.
Spontaneous ignition in piles of (damp) paper piled in the corner.
If we knew why you want to know we may have more constructive offerings? It doesn't sound lke a major fire risk (to people or property) unless thgere are other factors we need to consider... Is it on an offshore platform for example? Or in the middle of a refinery?

Posted By Mark Eden Luke Make sure it does not become a store room for any materials, particularly any chemicals. With Bonfire night coming up make sure grills are placed over windows at night as your portacabin could be used as target practice for the local rocket yobs brigade, this appears to be one of the crazes this year.

Posted By Phil Wainwright From the items you have listed I would suggest, that the most likely source of ignition would be from the power pack of the laptop exploding.

Posted By Steph Slightly separate, but might be worth adding that no additional items are allowed to be brought in. I'm thinking about toasters !!!
If we all had a fiver for every time the fire alarm had been set off by these......

Posted By Luke. Thanks All,
Steve, the location of the site office is in an airfield (well construction of part of one). It is extremely secure, 24 hour manned security gates, ID checking and there has to be someone to meet you on the other side - and thats before you get in to the site!
