Hi,
Just looking at a proposed works for a CCTV survey where the operative will NOT be accessing the sewer. He will only be using his CCTV rod to inspect. It is on a school but will be during half term...
In your experience ..what risks should i be looking at with this...
Thanks,

I should add, this is a drain survey only - there will be no removal of any blockages at this stage.

I have the obvious:
Mobile vehicle on site - potential of striking visitors, children (if on grounds during half term for some reason) etc.
Falls from height - operative falling into manhole, manholes left unattended/no barriers etc..
Leptospirosis (weils)
Slips/Trips - Trailing cables etc..
Any more for any more?

There may be no requirement to enter the sewer but it may be the case that to get the camera into the sewer line the entry point is at the bottom of an inspection chamber. These can vary in size from a few cm's deep to meters deep. In some cases the inspection chamber could be deemed a confined space (restricted access with sewer gas related risks). You might want to see a statement in the RA/MS on the control or avoidance of entry to deep inspection chambers.

Hi Pete,
The operatives are all confinded space trained, gas detection equipment is kept in the van etc.. however, for the purpose of this job they have been told not to enter the chamber (?).
I was going down the route of here is the method & risks for this type of working, there is to be no entry into the chamber. Therefore any changes in the method shall be agreed prior to working. (new method & risk for confined space etc)
