Posted By Mark Eden Leerob There is no legal obligation for your electricians to have fire extinguishers in their vans. If you do have them then you are legally obliged to ensure they are all trained in the use of fire extinguishers. What I suspect is the PC whats you to have a fire extinguisher to hand when on his site to ensure you don't use his. I am in the process of removing vehicle fire extinguishers to our fleet of maintenance operatives as we don't train them to put out vehicle fires. If they carry out hot works, such as repairs to copper water pipe then they are supplied with a suitable extinguisher to carry with them to the work area and training to use it.
