I am in the process of reviewing the company's fire evacuation policy and I have been tasked with improving the process regarding the accounting of staff following an evacuation. I work for a manufacturing company where the staff work various shift patterns and although I feel the system is robust during normal working hours, it's starts to fall down a little bit when dealing with staff outside normal working hours (ie nightshift) and others in on overtime. Has anyone got a good system in place that may prove effective.

Do you absolutely need to account for people per se or can you change to a fire warden clearance and guaranteed 'area clear' policy?
I used this with a diagram of the building and tick of at muster.
Any areas not checked were either done under close supervision by security on radio or left to the Brigade as 'unchecked'.
As long as they (FRS) know what to do when they arrive I think you'll be ok with this but worth checking with them and that its suitable for your premises.
