I'm looking for a reason for keeping certain records on site. I have found extracts from some regulations with requirements but stuck for some others such as First Aid certificate and waste removal contractor's license. I would like these records in the Construction Phase Plan as it would make my life a bit easier when carrying out safety inspections on site.
I also need a reason for carrying out Daily Safety Checks with records, up to now I have CDM 2007 ACOP, Regs 5, 7, 22, Plan manage and monitor etc. but can't see any requirement for keeping records.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation.

Chris, From your notes I feel I have come in half way through a conversation, would you mind expanding more pls. as for keeping records etc, treat it as a 18001 exercise where all doc's and records shall be kept readily availible.

Badger, and all,
I inspect project sites for a client, I always look to see records being kept i.e. work at height assessments, MEWP inspection records, ladder inspections etc.
I would like to recommend daily safety checks with records but cannot find any legislation to back me up. The PC's I visit are not too willing to provide anything they are not required to hence my request for assistance here.
Daily safety checks are the best way to prove monitoring of health and safety arrangements but there is nothing to say records should be kept.

It does depend on the equipment being inspected, for instance under Regulation 12 of the Work at Height Regulations, 2005 (WAHR) it offers general advice on inspection regimes for personal equipment used to provide protection against falls from a height and is intended to give information on the frequency, procedure and level of detail of inspection and the type of records which must be kept. You might find something of interest in there. From memory it advises employers receiving a report to keep a copy on site where the inspection was carried out until work is completed and at his office for 3 months thereafter. There will also be similar information in BSEN365:2004.
