Fire doors are usually noted as opening in the direction of exit.

Can a fire door open contrary to travel direction and still be classed as a full fire door?

Yes. But it is usually dependant on the level of occupation. In my company we always class fire doors as being internal doors to prevent the spread of fire and refer to the emergency escape doors as fire exits. I assume you meant fire exit?

In this instance internal partition doors as opposed to final exit. the level of occupation at an intermediate level.

Funny you should be asking this question, I have got the same problem. The buliders have put new fire rated doors in my opinion the wrong way. The doors in question lead from the reception area which has the final exit in it, to the offices. We have put pull signs on the doors now to combat this as they can't be turn round now. I was wondering if this was acceptable.

Ok. Next question to you both; Are the doors used by people who are familiar with the building (i.e those who work there)? or are the used by the general public?

If its for a low quantity of people, who are;

AWAKE
AWARE
ABLE
FAMILIAR

Then IMHO the risk will be negligable.
