Hi, I am in the fortunate position of heading out to oz in Feb' and would like any input on the chances of being able to secure another role. I am a Foreman/Safety Officer for a small joinery manufacturing firm where I have been employed for 13 years and have had a dual role for the past 7, I have accquired the General Cert, Fire Cert and Environmental Cert. Hopefully someone will be able to give myself some pointers on IF the qualifications that I already have will mean anything at all.
Thanks Chris

Dear auchie00, the situation in Australia is quite different, with occupational health and safety laws varying from state to state. I am responsible for Global HSE professionals around the world, including a number in Australia. Which state will you be working in? I have some good buddies here who can assist in providing the answers you need. Please e mail me direct and I will respond to you from the UK/Europe this week.
It is worth noting that Australia is looking to merge the OHS legislation over the next year, which could offer greater recognition of other qualifications from outside Oz.
Good luck and best regards,
Hugh

Mike,
I would be surprised if they did not recognise IOSH, you might also consider joining the IIRSM, which after all is an internationally recognised institute!
Kind regards,
Phill.
