Is there a standard/regulation that gives a requirement for how often the fixed wiring in a portacabin type unit should be checked. We currently do it annually but not sure if it's right?

In the bottom right hand corner on page two of the 'fixed wiring installation inspection certificate' it should state when the installation should next be inspected. Reinspection intervals are decided by the electrician who carries out the inspection. The interval is reached taking a number of variables into account which result in an overal level of compliance, this is then compared with current standards.

is it permanently fixed in place? if a mobile unit and going site to site would expect proper check / installation certification at each new installation which would negate the annual check unless in situ for a longer period

The caravan park industry conducts fixed testing upon installation of the unit and then every three years (if thats any use).
