We are an engineering company were the requirement to wear safety glasses in machine shops etc is MANDATORY.
Those that wear our standard issue safety glasses have commented that they sometimes feel that the safety glasses magnify their vision that effects their eye sight etc when walking and carrying out tasks.
Our standard safety glasses are from a very reputable company and were chosen as when visited by an HSE Inspector, recognised as a product with a very low magnifaction.
As this was just under a year ago and technology moves on, can anybody recommend a very low magnification, robust and adjustable safety glasses product or any advice with regards such an issue they may have come accross?
This is without issuing each employee (200+) with a personally chosen pair of non-prescription safety glasses, as has been suggested, but time consuming?
Thanks,

try contacting a general PPE supplier for advice - ask for a rep from one of the big names in eye wear to visit and get some free sampled to trial or contact the suppliers direct.
PPE suppliers have also helped me with trials, assessments of workplace to ensure specs meet correct British standard requirements, posters of injured eyes etc etc. (I may have a bolle presentation some where if you PM me)
With risk of being moderated for the first time on the forums I have found the following helpful-
bolle:
sperian: http://www.sperianprotection.co.uk/
3m: http://solutions.3m.co.uk/
Make sure you invole the workforce in the choice (reps often will do a presentation to Safety meeting etc)

I had the pleasure of implementing a safety glasses policy six years ago in a laboratory setup. There were comments in relation to a slight magnification but most issues were to do with the light seeming brighter giving people sore heads. The curviture of the lens also makes it look like a slight magnification.
There were two answers that I found:
1) Try to use glasses that do not curve too much but also have a blank side that light does not get through. This helped the majority.
2) Get slightly tinted safety glasses. This helped.
Also for prescription safety glasses these two points apply.
I hope this is of help.

Bolle Safety eyewear is excellent. Speak to someone at either Arco or Greenham and request a joint or independent site visit by a Bolle rep (Gary Goodall).
