Hi all,
I would like to know if there are any standards regarding the spacing between seats in cinemas & theatres to ensure safe & easy evacuation in the event of emergency.
Thanks in advance

Amjad If the info required is UK based, have a look at page 72 + onwards at http://www.communities.g...ents/fire/pdf/144845.pdfwhich should give you all the info you need including regerence to the appropriate BS. If you are not UK based - I saw that your profile includes middle east - there may be local/national requirements. Apologies if I am incorrect but I do not want to assume anything. Hope that this helps, it is all free to download with no copyright issues. Martin

Sorry, missed a step. Once you have searched under fire and resilience, it brings up another screen. Half way down there is a subsection titled 'In this section'. If you then click on the first listed item, which is 'About the guides - introduction and checklist' it brings up the full list of guides. Martin

Hope that the link provided useful information Amjad, but I do not know of KSA law in this matter. I read somewhere that the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in Riyadh has responsibility for health and safety matters so this may be a useful place for you to contact. Good luck Martin

You may also want to look at: Model National Standard Conditions for Places of Entertainment and Associated Guidance ISBN : 1904031110 available from www.etnow.comUnfortunately you have to buy it currently £20 It focuses on licensing requirements which includes fire and public safety issues. It isn't a set of building design technical standards. The blurb says: The Model National Standard Conditions (MNSC) covers operational standards in the approach to licensing and management issues of places of public entertainment. Aimed at complementing the Technical Standards for Places of Entertainment, the MNSC are provided for the use of councils and Licensees nationwide in the interests of achieving a uniform approach to licensing issues. Covering most types of venue and activity, the book is an invaluable guide for anyone responsible for entertainment premises. Hope this helps in the wider sense.
