I am releatively new to Health & Safety and I have recently gained the Nebosh General Certificate, I am now wondering what the next step is....? I currently work for a company that installs furniture into new build properties; If i am to stay in this company I would look into more education and experience relevant to the construction industry, like the SMSTS Course and the Nebosh Construction Cert However, for many reasons that may not be an option.

I would like to take my H&S education/experience further as I have the first rung of the ladder under my belt and I want a career that employs the education I have gained. Other than the construction industry i am also interested in Risk Management and Fire Safety. I just don't know what to do next, can anyone offer any advice?

Cheers

Hi Nich,

I know of people who have worked their way round the NEBOSH certificates - from the General, to Construction, to Fire Safety. In my opinion & from a construction perspective, the NEBOSH construction certificate will give you more benefit than the SMSTS course.

I would suggest that the next step would be to obtain at least TechIOSH, and build up a portfolio of CPD.

That way you already have evidence of the projects & safety initiatives you've been involved in before you go for a Level 6 qualification (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent degree course).

Hope that helps.

Alex
