Good morning,
This is the first time I have tried to use the forum. I have the Nebosh General Certificate, obtained 2005, I have the resposibility of H&S of four offices/warehouses, as well as the HR for the company. I am also guilty of not completing the CPD cycle, (I hope I have corrected this with what I have just sent in).It is very difficult for me to spend to time I would like to on H&S because of the HR aspect of my job. I feel a lot of pressure, it is all down to me, one area I feel concerned about is the Risk Assessments and more importantly what to do about them! I had a firm on board to assist for awhile but they were not good at giving me specific ideas as to control methods. I would like to do a course specifically on Risk Assessment and 'controls'. I have also been requested to help/advise at the local church, which I would really like to do, have done an inspection, (nightmare situation - nothing done) I hope this will help with my CPD this year, but want to have more specific knowledge. I hope someone can advise a really good course, specifically on what I need.

Thanks,

Phyl

Phyl,

There will be an IOSH registered risk assessment course in your area, Google health & safety courses in essex.

also HSE website 5 steps to risk assessment, download it and read read read until you have a better understanding of assessing risks within the workplace. Your probably doin it on a daily basis due to the course you have already completed.

Then go on the introduction to risk assessment course from a local training provider

Hope this helps

Hi Phyl,

It's worth having a look at the example Risk assessments the HSE have on their website as well. You can find them here: http://www.hse.gov.uk/risk/casestudies/index.htm

Kind regards,

David
