Being FRIDAY I thought that I would mention that having used up our store of rock salt we have had some interesting suggestions from concerned staff on what to do until more rock salt arrives. For example: Go down the beach and take some sand to use around the site. Put straw down. Send everyone home (surprise) Spread soil over the footpaths and carparks Anyone had any other interesting suggestions?

We ran out yesterday but thankfully a new delivery arrived this morning. In the meantime our Facilities guys used cat litter! Which was quite effective....

My wife told me last night that one of her work mates had come into work wearing socks over her shoes. Apparently it increases grip!

Yes the socks do work but they have to be woolen socks. On the subject of rock salt, does anyone know of the cheapest / expensive rate for 20kg bags of salt (if availible) and where from? Badger

All grit and salt in North Scotland has been held by the council. It is now impossible to get more for private sites. If any-one knows how to order 10 tonnes of grit/salt for a 30 acre site, please let me know.

I used to but from a company called Peacock Salt in Scotland, no idea on the state of play though, probably no chance of getting any. An alternative is a company called Basic Solution who offer a man-made alternative. Im sure you can find details on both if you do a google search. Apologies for posting the company names but I am sick to death of PMing the same info over and over so took the decision that if so many people want to know I may as well post it and hope not to have my hand slapped by the mods. I have absolutley no connection with either company, other than the fact that I have bought from them both about 5 years ago.
