As I understand does EH40 have more legal clout than a standard

Yes. WELs are legal limits. EH40 is effectively part of COSHH.

Hi SBH,

Kate is correct.

COSHH says you must abide by Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs). These are listed in EH40.

Because exposure limits change, they are in a document seperate to the regs so that they don't have to keep reissuing the regulations (which is very expensive!).
