Good morning all,
As part of our site's wellness campaign we have received a request from some female employees to host a site based aerobics class, out of business hours, in our canteen.
The instructor will be qualified and have the necessary insurances in place.
The site based activity has a lot of benefits to the employees including good form exercise, flexibility, convenience and low cost.
I am responsible for the Facilities & ESH so I need to consider all the technicalities for such an event. In principal top management do not object but we want to be sure we cover all aspects of H&S.
Can anyone provide any practical guidance on this type of activity and any considerations that I should be looking at.
Thanks,
John

By appointing a trainer qualiifed to at least CYA level 2, you should be able to get the technicalities you refer to right.
'Wellness' is, of course, a much, much, much larger issue than aeroblics and, unless it is be used in a misleading way, requires strong management commitment at all levels to high quality stress management 24/7/365.

'Ergonomics in Sport and Physical Activity', T O'Reilly, Human Kinetics. 2009, includes a couple of chapters on health and safety. The scope specifically includes aerobics.
Tom O'Reilly is one of the leading sports ergonomists in the U.K.
