Hi,

I am but together a new contractor mgt procedure for my new site. I'm looking to separate the current procedure of 1 messy,, long winded procedure into 3 separate procedures. 1) Delievery tankers and HGV pick contractors. 2) General engineering, maintenance/servicing, small building works, Consulatants, etc and 3) Projects requiring CDM Notifiable works. I believe this will give the best and most concise approach to managing these various projects on site. The only issue I have is this is the first time i've had to deal with contractors in form of tanker deliveries and HGV pick ups, etc. Is there anything specific I would need to incorporate into this procedure or would it be sufficent to just include it in the general contractor mgt procedure? They are all assessed and approved in the same manner.

Thanks

Might help inform replies if we know the content of the tankers. Might come into realms of Dangerous Good Safety Adviser DGSA, might not.

treate all contractors in [basicially] the same way noting the 80 / 20 rule

Risk rate them and then allow for the different risks in your system e.g. a milkman is a contractor as he delievers milk under contract but his risk rate should be low additionally a tanker delievering petrol is also a contractor but his risks are high

the basics should all be the same e.g. commissioned via a professsional pre qualification procedure, monitored whilst on site, they operate any required systems of work as they should do, adhere to site rules etc

This should be astarter for 10
