Hello everyone, can any of you recommend a reasonable insurance broker or company for PI and PL insurances.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Not personally recommending them but my brother uses Hiscox and has always found them OK. Sure more will be posted soon.

I also use Hiscox, but through an excellent broker blythe valley, who you can actually ring up and talk to someone, which is very useful these days.

Just a quick one vaguely relating to this.

I was insured by hiscox but when i cancelled my policy after the 12months, they sent a letter stating that if any claim arose from the work i had carried out in the last 12months were to arise, i was not covered because i didn't renew the policy.

Any one else come across this.

Surely if you were insured by them at that moment in time you should still be covered by them???

Sorry to change the subject slightly

Freelance safety - I would recommend getting a couple of quotes from local insurance brokers and also hiscox who have an excellent online quote system.

Leeray - there are two types of PI policies, the first "claims made" covers any claims made during the period of cover whilst a "claims occurring" will cover any incident which occurs during the period of cover. Sounds like you had a "claims made" policy with Hiscox so you would need to ensure any new policy is on the same basis to ensure you have cover should anything happen.

I have used Prescott Jones for the last 4 years for PL, EL and PI. They are based in Bristol - contact name Chris Dover - I have always had excellent services from them.

Best Regards - Donna
