What happens if there has been an accident at work, which you feel had the potential to cause serious harm, or worse, to an employee, yet it isn't covered by the dangerous occurrences section (schedule 2) in RIDDOR? ie. a dropped object for which someone had to take evasive action to get out of the way, clearly a dangerous occurrence.

You call it a near miss and investigate internally. If it has concerned you that much speak to HSE report line and ake their advice.

Hi Dodds, Just to help us help you. Having established that it is not reportable, what is your motivation for wanting to do so? Are you hoping that reporting will trigger a reaction? If so, can that reaction not be triggered by other means?
