We use oxygen banks for hot cutting in demolition work. These come with a lifting ring on top so that the hiab can lift the bank off the lorry.
If a hiab is a lifting appliance and requires testing under LOLER, then the ring and bottlebank frame are lifting gear and also need testing and certification. If that is so, then I can lift the bottlebank to the roof with the Tower Crane.
BOC assure me that they do no such testing and that the bottle bank is a "Manifolded Cylinder Pallet" or MCP and thus can only be lifted by forks.
Am I the only one who considers all this ludicrous? Anyone with more experience out there who can advise? Or have I just inadvertantly identified that BOC and many construction companies are daily in breach of a legal obligation?
All suggestions and observations gratefully received.
