Question about articulated MEWP, we use them for welding/grinding tanks.They work about 50 60 foot up in the air. The contracting company are placing hides arround them to contain sparks ect. I dont beleive they can be used with the hides arround them due to them acting as sails when the wind picks up. Has anyone any thoughts on this?

I agree with you about the wind affecting them.

Have you thought about scaffolding mesh (see link, at the bottom of the page and ignore the tomato)

Hi,
Agree with what you say about the hide acting as a sail, same applies if handling loads such as panels or signage. I’d contact the MEWP manufacturer for advice, it may be necessary to specify lower limiting wind speed than are given on the work platform rating plate or manual.
