A colleague has posed a question about the feasibility of running short introduction to cookery courses in the kitchen on the work premises. The coures will be conducted at weekends over afternoon periods. The colleague is competent to deliver such training and has lectured at local colleges in the past, but then paid as an employee, this work is a sideline to her usual employment but permission to use the kitchens etc has been agreed. The training will be aimed at children and young persons from 12 years of age. Provision has been made for risk assessment, induction and supervision. I have also found reference to the following requirements: Health Department certification • Tuberculosis clearance • Wellness certification Food handlers certification Business license Department of Justice clearance (if working with children) CPR/first aid certification (if working with children) Are these legal requirments and can anyone inform me of insurance requirements and any other areas that may need addressing to ensure that the activity is carried out appropriately Thanks.
