I would be grateful if informed forum members could recommend a noise monitor suitable for Noise assessments.

Hi Paul When I was asked to produce a noise level assessment I used the following: http://www.hss.com/g/49711/Sound-Level-Meter.html It was easy to use and did the job. I hired it for a couple of days as I had to monitor equipment being used in an underground tunnel. Hope it helps. Emsie.

It would depend in the level of accuracy you need, the best ones are type 1, the one from HSS seems to be a type 2, in which case I would rather buy my own with a little more money that hiring.. http://www.digital-meter...-Tecpel-DSL%252d331.html

To undertake a full noise at work assessment, you would need an integrating meter, preferably with an octave band (or third octave) band filter. These are quite expensive though, so it depends how often you would use it as to whether you purchase outright or hire in. Ours is by Cirrus and comes with useful software which can recommend suitable hearing protection from a list of suppliers. Alan
