Hi Folks, I just thought I would share my current learning experience with my fellow SHE practitioners who are looking to progress onto the next level of academic learning. I am currently studying Safety, Health and Environment Management BSc (Hons) at Leeds Metropolitan University. Having done the normal route so far in terms of Safety, Health and Environment courses (NEBOSH Gen Cert, Const cert, NVQ 4 etc) I wanted to expand my knowledge, but at the same time, pull away from the norm, hence enrolling at Leeds Met. My experience at Leeds Met to date has far exceeded my original expectations, it is a friendly environment to learn in, the modules are clear to understand and at the end of lectures you leave with a great sense that you have actually learnt something, rather than been more confused than when you went in!! The lecturers , as one might expect, have a wealth of knowledge from working in the SHE world but also draw upon experiences from roles outside of SHE, are extremely approachable and do care whole heartedly about your learning experience. However, I have to say that the best experience so far is working with my fellow students, most of which on the this years course, are mature students sharing the same goals, I personally feel that we have really pulled together learning from each others experience’s I would really recommend anybody seeking to gain CMIOSH status to chose this route and I would be more than happy to speak to anyone wanting further information about Leeds met and the Safety Health and Environment BSc (Hons) course. Regards Andy
