What questions would you like to ask your politicians?

Currently there is the opportunity within the member’s forum to put forward any questions to each of the political parties on health and safety matters. This question was posted by IOSH and my feeling is that this is so that the Institute can raise the profile of this matter with our political masters.
The responses to date are very limited and therefore I can only conclude is that this is not considered as being a real issue for IOSH members.
I believe that this is a real opportunity for the membership of Europe’s leading professional institute to put a positive case forward for Health & Safety. To date the responses have been very limited and this sends me the message that the majority of IOSH members are not really interested in this matter.
Please prove me wrong and demonstrate that this is a subject that we do feel passionate about or do I need to start thinking about a new career.

"What's Anne Widdecomb reeeeeally like?"
I'm not cynical, dsb; just a realist.
I don't see H&S being any more important to a politician than it is to a Chief Exec; depends on the individual. There's some big fish to fry these days and there ain't been a Buncefield for some time (thankfully).
Any H&S question put to one of these people will garner the standard fog answer we're used to in this world. Tends to angry up my blood so I manage my expectations and keep plugging away at the stuff I can influence. I don't need any more legislation, it's all right where I need it. Maybe the enforcement could be a bit stronger or a little more prolific but that only helps when things have gone wrong; which is useless to me.
Anyway, what jobs you looking at?

DSB, I wouldn't put down the sword just yet. Aren't you being bit hard on IOSH members? The response rate for the thread in members is just less than 7%, the forum average as a whole is only about 9% (actual replies against viewings) and most posts don't attract much more than 0.5-1.5%. So in a forum context I would say that was pretty significant show of interest? Then of course there is the fcat that not all IOSH members use the forums and many more only intermittently. Put alongside the current apathetic societal response to politics in general and politicians in particular I do not share your concerns. Did I have any questions for politicians? Yep, posted them in the members thread. P48

Is this a fair thread? How can non-members comment without seeing the content? And on that subject, it seems a fair and extremely well-balanced set of contributions, I cannot imagine what more you expect.
For once - this poster is genuinely mystified why you posted this in the general forum???
Your own contribution seemed fine BTW, no better or worse than any other. I
