Hello All Do workers need to be trained to wear harness and doea the training need to be accredited by an outside company or is it somthing that can be done in house. At my work place we have lots of workers who work at height and need to wear them. Thanks

Yes employees should be trained in a harnesses correct use and how to visually inspect it for damage. It can be done in house as long as the person giving the training is competent to do so. If you have someone who can train properly and who has sufficient knowledge of a harnesses use and inspection then they can give the training. Just make sure you identify who neeeds the training and how regularly, and keep a record of training given.

Hello there Yes staff wearing harnesses need to be trained in how to put them on properly, insepct them prior to use and if you have that are using fall arrest systems you need to think about emergency rescue training. Lots of recrod keeping associated with all of this too.

I agree with earlier posts but dont forget, if people are working at height then the must have some Work At height trainng, not just how to inspect and wear a harness. Steve

Please dont forget the heirachy of control, do we really need to expose the workers to a fall at height, also look at collective measures.
