Hello. I want to introduce a simple, fun health and safety session for young people between 16-25. The idea is to provide them with basic skills that may help their employment opportunities and also trickle down (up?) to their future employers - or perhaps be part of their own business culture if they become self-employed. Can anyone suggest stats on H&S and young people or point me in the direction of courses that are tailored to young people, or indeed anything that may help spread the word. Many thanks. Shabbir

Shabbir,

It would be worth checking out the British Safety Council website www.britsafe.org. As part of their charitable status they are in the process of rolling out entry level qualifications to schools, charitable organisations, etc.

They also have a Health and Safety of Young Workers Conference happening in London on 22.06.2010

Best Regards - Donna

Hi,
Following two websites might help:

http://www.youngworker.co.uk/

http://www.wiseup2work.co.uk/

Strictly speaking I think as far as the regs are concerned a young person is 16 (school leaving age) to 18.
Regards
Steve

Some great websites with really useful info - many thanks. Will study them over the next few days as stats would be very helpful to me. Regards, Shabbir

Shabbir

http://www.safelearner.info/library.aspx

gives some documents which may be useful to use if you choose to do s, such as the Be Safe workbook. Also some useful case studies on accidents etc.
