Dear All,
I just wondered - I think most people are aware of the requirements for a H&S policy set out in HASAWA '74, but is there anywhere in Environmental legislation where requirements are set out for an Environmental Policy? We already have a policy and ISO14001 certification by the way, I'm just curious...
Many thanks
Kay

Hi Kay,

I found this from Envirowise " Writing an environmental policy is a voluntary undertaking in the UK, and the structure and content are not regulated under UK legislation. For companies intending to obtain certification to a formal EMS, including ISO14001 and EMAS, the environmental policy is a vital document for implementation"

Hope this helps

Surely as part of your EMS and certification to ISO 14001 you would have put together a legal section and you are evaluating your legal compliance? Possibly a procedure describing how you identify and keep up to date with legal requirements?
Would this not be covered here?
