Hi all,

I wonder if anyone out there might be able to help me. I have been asked to put together a short training package for LGV drivers on the safe securing and transporting steel coils on flatbed vehicles.

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be most appreciated.

Rob.

Rob,
As a former load security instructor for a large logistics firm, I would suggest contacting Corus Strip Products and asking for a copy of their load security presentation. If I recall - It was around 30 slides which covered coil/plate/coil ends and various other products. Send me your email and I will try and dig out any info I have….
Regards
Jon

Take care how much responsibility you take for this unless you are an expert, load security of steel coil for road transport is a specialist subject.
Who will do the calculations for sideways, rear and forward forces on various steel products being transported to design the strapping configurations?
The slides Jon mentioned are very good, pm me if you need anything else
I was part of the North Regional Transport Group with this and I would still not decide on strapping requirements and configuration.
Steve
