I am looking for information on an insulating baord called Plaschem Aeroliner. In particular I am looking for fire resistance data. I can't find the information on the web (the examples I am dealing with are 25 years old).
The material is polyurethane faom sandwiched between aluminium foil and according to the the artchiects, hand written, notes it has a Class 0 rating but I can't find any proof of that.
Any help appreciated

lol :-)
Sorry to laugh at a typo as I make them all the time, but I think you mean insulating board Gunter. But I like the idea of insulting the board. Well it is Friday!
Sorry, I can't help either.

A google search does throw up a supplier in Alaska, who might be the original manufacturer. It is worth a go at contacting them.

Some of the property insurers have extensive technical libraries and some of their property protection consultants are well clued-in on this type of question. May be worth a try if you have access to any friendly ones.
The Class O will presumably be for surface spread of flame but real fire performance once the aluminium foil is broken and the foam exposed (FLTs and pallets do this) may be very poor. Early foam panels contributed to some very large fires particularly in food processing plants. It releases highly corrosive acid smoke that totally wrecks delicate electronics, often causing failure months after a clean-up.

Gunther,
For the panel to be considered as Class 0, it must be non-combustible throughout; or
The aluminium surface material and substrate must be Class 1. Given the approx date for the panel as advised by you, the panel should have been tested in accordance with BS476: Part 6: 1968.
Given the age of the panel, it would be prudent to consult the BRE Report “results of surface spread of flame tests on building materials 1976.
Plaschem are listed at pages 114 – 115
Plaschem ltd
Crystal mill
Dale Street
Radcliff
Manchester
M26 9 AF
There are two entries and test reports for the Plaschem panels, each of them are class 1.
25 mm rigid urethane board faced with paper and coated with aluminium foil 0.0009 mm Warrington research centre report WRC 6434
13 mm polyurethane foam board faced acrylic coated aluminium foil
Warrington research centre report WRC 9579
It would be reasonable to assume that similar products from this manufacturer were submitted to similar tests and that they would appear to meet the requirements of Class 0 based on the tests confirming Class 1.
Bleve :}

By the way, your post talks about fire resistance data. The PUR substrate will combust at 593 K piloted and 693 unpiloted ignition.

As an aside we have product here on site that has been confirmed to contain asbestos in the paper/ foil coating over the foam boarding. It's an insulated roofing panel. So just tread with caution. Sorry I can't help with other product info/ fire ratings/ etc. That is not my speciality.
